Fridge concept
Food wastage places great pressure on the environment from all the resources required to grow and transport produce. One of the key factors in food wastage/spoilage in fridges is the lack of exposure of the food. Older food tends to be pushed to the very back of the shelf and forgotten.

Inspiration for the solution comes from a beehive's structure. Natural beehives arrange honey comb structures in slabs, allowing better access as well as temperature control.
In this case, the sliding shelf "slabs" allow easy access and greater exposure of food items. Sliding shelves also reduce the amount of cool air escaping compared to open shelves, saving energy. The user only slides out the shelf they need access to.

The majority of items found in the fridge can fit on shelf "slabs", however a large single 'classic' shelf is kept for larger items such as large bowls, pizza boxes, pots etc. A small door for this shelf reduced the amount of cold air escaping.
